Magnetic monster nears Hastings
B-movie madness continues at the Electric Palace cinema later this month with The Magnetic Monster, made in 1953. John Knowles reports.
In keeping with the programming of the B-Movie series so far, viewers are assured of genuinely weird storyline, bad acting and bizarre special effects. This time the monster in question is intangible, being as it is a ‘tremendously powerful source of energy’. Still, it’s enough to warrant calling in the OSI (Office of Scientific Investigation), who battle to save the earth in another classic post-atom-bomb, science-is-scary movie. A must.
All films in the B-Movie season are programmed by Robin Elliott-Knowles, a local autistic boy with a passion for movies and especially B-movies, who is always on hand to discuss films.
The Magnetic Monster (USA, 1953), Curt Siodmak.
Electric Palace, 39a High Street, Hastings.
Tickets £6 online or £5 on the door.
