Christmas concert featuring Sound Waves and Acapella Bellas at All Saints

Joy to the World, a concert featuring festive music from around the world provided by Sound Waves Community Choir and Acapella Bellas, will be staged at the Hastings Old Town church of All Saints on Friday 13 December, Nick Terdre reports.

The festive entertainment at the Joy to the World Christmas concert will be provided by two popular choirs. The Hastings-based Sound Waves Community Choir, which was launched in 2009, will sing carols and songs in English from countries including South Africa, Ukraine, the Caribbean, Italy and Sweden.

Another local choir, the Acapella Bellas, will present songs from their eastern European repertoire.

There will also be a selection of Christmas carols in which all are invited to join. Wine and mince pies will be on sale.

Entry to the concert is free, but donations will be requested for Music for Memory, the charity supported by Sound Waves this year. Music for Memory provides free singing lessons for people with memory issues, including dementia.

Successful Christmas Fair

Meanwhile, across The Bourne, a successful Christmas Fair was held at the parish’s other medieval church, St Clement’s, on Saturday 23 November 23, when more than £1,300 was raised to help maintain the two churches.

The event included songs and carols by the Cocktail Choir. There was a variety of stalls selling hand-made gifts, cakes, and Christmas decorations, and a flying visit by Father Christmas.
