Hastings extended reality artist goes to Edinburgh

Ornagh is a contemporary, immersive artist who is off to Edinburgh this weekend for the world premiere of The Ode Islands – a collaboration between Ornagh XR Studios and Immersiv.es. The six-person creative team behind the production are all based locally. Erica Smith dons her headset and enters their world of extended reality.

Stables Theatre’s world premiere of The Turn of the Screw

Henry James’s The Turn Of The Screw has been through many manifestations. It was written in Rye at the author’s Lamb House as a Victorian novella, and serialised in an American magazine. Book, film, TV, radio, ballet and opera versions followed. Now the Stables Theatre in Hastings Old Town is staging a new dramatisation by Timothy Blackwell, who also directs. Bernard McGinley reports on a classic horror story.

Care about Alexandra Park? Come to the Friends’ AGM

The Friends of Alexandra Park have reformed and now invite all to attend their annual general meeting on 12 August where the group’s future direction will be decided. The meeting will be held in the restored greenhouse, which recently hosted a successful cacti and succulents show. Hastings council passes ceasefire motion, backing town’s friendship links with Al Mawasi in Gaza

Hastings Borough Council passed an historic motion on Wednesday (16 July), voting to back an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, an end to all arms sales to Israel and to support the town’s deep friendship links with the people of Al Mawasi.
