Charlie Austen, songwriter #8

Charlie Austen is a one-woman band  playing carefully crafted original songs on the folk-soul-rock spectrum and supporter of fellow musicians. Joyful, with groovy tunes and a very entertaining presence on stage, she is a radical as well as a personal, thoughtful songwriter. She shares an example of her lyrics with Jude Montague. Charlie is based in Hastings and is performing at The Pig, Hastings, on Friday 15 November.

Draft Local Plan for public scrutiny on environment and housing policy

Standing up 4 Nature (SU4N, Hastings & Rother) had a successful meeting recently. In early December there’s to be a ‘Community Assembly’ followup event to contribute to Hastings Borough Council’s Draft Local Plan regarding matters such as empty houses and environmental protection. Dog bans at Rock-a-Nore and the Stade withdrawn

The council has reversed its unpopular policy banning dogs from the Rock-a-Nore and Stade beaches during summer months. This week the council’s Cabinet gave unanimous approval to ending all dog exclusion on these beaches, a move welcomed by the Paws for Shores campaign group as well as dog owners in general. ‘Poetry for Palestine’ open mic fundraiser on Saturday 23 November
