Poetry on the prom

A new mural has arrived on St Leonard’s lower prom by the clock  at the foot of London Road. Artist Jill Rock had the vision for the artwork, and it came into being as the result of a collaboration between local painters and poets from Hastings Writing for Wellbeing. Jill Rock tells us more.

The Bexhill Footbridge Project competition has been a great success with over 150 entries received by the closing date. Entries ranged from Paintings, sculptures, knitting and needlework to poetry and song. A brilliant selection from the talented people of Rother and Hastings. ‘Palestine on the Pier’: a 1st for Hastings

Hastings is to host the UK’s first ever ‘Palestine on the Pier’ – a celebration of the best of Palestinian culture including food, music, dance, storytelling, handicraft and children’s activities. The free, daytime event on 5 September is jointly hosted by Hastings & Rye Palestine Solidarity Campaign [HRPSC] and the pier management team Hastings Pier Entertainment Ltd. Professional experts criticise Council over ‘Roman’ Bath

The retrospective planning application (case ref HS/LB/20/00805), for Listed Building Consent to disfigure a Grade 2 listed building in Summerfields Wood has provoked indignation among heritage organisation experts as well as locals. The galvanised steel gates, plates and a grille in the ‘Roman’ Bath archway and lower bath area are already there however. Bernard McGinley reports.
