What’s going on? Let us know
People come to Hastings Online Times (HOT) for lots of different reasons. The brilliant articles, the trenchant opinion pieces, the reviews of what’s been hot in Hastings and its surroundings, the crackling wit and repartee of the readers’ comments . . Well yes, but for a lot of people it’s the What’s On section, where you can find out, free of charge, where and when the town’s many and various entertainments and events are taking place. Here, Toby Sargent explains what you can do to make this part of HOT even better.
I was leafing through Sean O’Shea’s excellent Hastings Old Town Music Scene book the other day and I was struck once again by the sheer scale of live music in the town. Sean has identified 28 different live music venues, and that’s just in the Old Town.
Across the whole of the HOT territory – roughly the same as what’s known as 1066 Country – there must be considerably more than a hundred. Add to this all the art galleries, museums, theatres, performance spaces, cinemas, comedy venues and sports facilities, and you unveil a cascading cornucopia of creativity everywhere you look.
With the best will in the world, HOT’s band of volunteer writers and editors can only scratch the surface of this in our listings section. But wouldn’t it be great if all or at least most of it was captured on this site?
That’s where you come in. Are you connected to one or more of these venues, either as a manager, performer or regular attendee? Do you wish that what was happening there was being seen by more people? Could you spare a few minutes once in a while to type in basic details of what’s coming up that people might enjoy?
If so, we want to hear from you. Contact us and we’ll show you how you can get free publicity for your venue by having it appear in our What’s On listings. It’s dead simple, and we’ll give you your own ID and password so that you can enter details direct on to the HOT site of time, place, admission charge and a brief description of what’s going to happen.
If you’re enjoying HOT and would like us to continue providing fair and balanced reporting on local matters please consider making a donation. Click here to open our PayPal donation link. Thank you for your continued support!
