Hire a bike at Pelham Beach and explore the area by pedal power. Good news for Hastings and St Leonards, which already has a thriving – and very creatively inspired – biking community. The 7km beachside traffic free cycle route is the perfect way to discover Hastings’ seafront and further afield.
The council’s Seaside Cycle Hire is now open at weekends offering an extensive range of bicycles for hire to explore the town and the seafront cycle route.
Cllr Dawn Poole Hastings Borough Council’s lead member for leisure said: “We are pleased to announce that Seaside Cycle Hire is now open at weekends until the beginning of June, when it will be open seven days a week 9:30 – 17:30.
“Bikes can be hired from as little as a couple of hours to a full day or even a week if required and discounts are available for families and groups of four or more.
“Cycling is a great way to explore the town and now with the newly opened Pier and The Source BMX and Skate Park, there is so much more to see and do. This year we have used our Coastal Communities Funding to buy an additional six electric bikes and one electric tricycle – these are great for those not used to riding a bike or with mobility issues. Prices for hiring an electric bike start at £14 for a half day.
“Seaside Cycle Hire offers adult’s bikes, children’s bikes, electric bikes, helmets, locks and even cycle maps – why not give it a go?!”
Bicycles can be booked for the 1066 Cycling Festival, which will take place in Hastings and Bexhill on 11 and 12 June.
