LGBFposterHelp out or have some fun at local summer festival!

This summer, the Little Gate Big Festival is set to rock the rolling countryside nearby Rye. While tickets are going fast, charity and organiser, Little Gate Farm are seeking volunteers and are also offering the chance to win free tickets! HOT’s Jordan Dixon writes.

What started as a small fundraiser is now an annual weekend of camping, music and light entertainment, offering fun and frolics for all the family.

This 7-9 June, Little Gate Farm in Beckley, East Sussex will open its gates to families and children of all ages, but for the rest of the year, the charity provides essential support to those with autism and learning disabilities, assisting them with entering into the workplace.

The festival has proved to be an exciting, yet essential means of fundraising for the charity. “The event began as a small fundraiser for the Little Gate charity”, says Claire Cordell, CEO of the group. “It just has such a feel-good vibe and is really popular with families, so it has been steadily growing – but is still very much a small, friendly, family weekend.

Fitting with the charity’s work, the festival will present a number of learning-disabled and non-disabled artists. Among them will include new musicians from Eggtooth’s Incubate project, The Daniel Wakeford Experience, The Happy Maureens, Fuzzbomb Flashband and The Mighty Sounds. Accompanying this assortment of talent will be a feast of festivities, from storytelling and street theatre, to den-building and water pistol battles, with a range of food and craft stalls, a bar and the option to camp overnight.

Local talent, rising star

Marie White

Among the performing acts will be Hastings’ very own Marie White. Winner of Glastonbury’s 2019 Emerging Talent Competition. Marie first demonstrated her musical flair and self-written work busking on the streets of Rye from age 15. She has since played a number of venues throughout Sussex, favouring to stick close to home and making her name by the sea. Though, after performing at the festival on Sunday June 9, Marie will be taking her talent to Glastonbury, making her debut appearance on the Pyramid Stage later this year.

Festival volunteers sought!

The Little Gate Farm are also looking for voluntary stewards! No experience is required, with briefing on the day and free tea and coffee available. You must be 18 or over. Those willing to commit to four hours or more will receive a free food voucher and a free weekend ticket with camping worth £35. To lend your support, register at this link.

And of course as mentioned, for a chance to win a pair of adult weekend camping tickets, simply answer the following question;

On which day is Marie White playing at Little Gate Big Festival?

Send your answer to office@18hours.org.uk. Good luck!
