The New Orleans style funeral for fossil fuels

Funeral for fossil fuels

Over the weekend, a New Orleans style marching jazz band funeral for fossil fuels was organised by local groups, Fossil Free Hastings and Don’t Frack Sussex.

The event – which was part of global week of action calling to stop investment in oil, coal and gas industries – was complete with coffin, sashes, decorated umbrellas and a live band featuring local singer song-writer and musician, Blair MacKichan.

Fossil Free Hastings is also calling on East Sussex County Council to divest the East Sussex Pension Fund from these high risk investment fuels. Want to sign the petition? ESCC Divest.

Fossil Free Hastings state: “Unless we rapidly replace fossil fuels with cleaner sources of energy we’ll soon pass a danger point, with disastrous consequences. That’s why fossil fuels need to stay dead and buried – it’s their funeral or ours!”
