Draw online with Rachel Glittenberg

St Leonards-based artist Rachel Glittenberg is one of several creators who have taken to running art classes online during the Covid-19 lockdown. Erica Smith caught up with Rachel to see how she has adapted from teaching painting classes at her studio to teaching an online drawing class every Monday morning.

Can you tell me a bit about you and your work as an artist?
I am an Expressionist contemporary painter working in oils and acrylics, based in St Leonards-on-Sea. I regularly show my paintings in galleries and open studios and my work is collected in many countries. My paintings are a mix of my imagination, drawing and photographic references and I use elements from history and folklore to explore what it means to be a woman in the 21st century.

What made you decide to run an online drawing class?
I love teaching and as it’s no longer possible to run face to face workshops, I decided to create an online space open to anyone who would like to spend a little time each week being creative and connecting with others. The idea is to escape for a while and have some fun as well as learn new skills or enhance existing ones.
