What’s HOT at the White Rock!

The White Rock Theatre has now re-opened with an impressive range of live entertainment for the people of Hastings, St Leonards and beyond.  You can find details of all their shows and make bookings on their website. There’s also a brand new online brochure covering shows from now until December. HOT’s Paul Way-Rider takes a look at some of the acts coming up soon.

LuisLuisa-Omielan-2021a Omielan – Thursday 21 October, 8pm. Age 18+

Fresh from a successful off-Broadway run, comedian Luisa Omielan tours the UK with her highly anticipated new show, God is a Woman. This is the fourth stand-up show courtesy of the BAFTA-winning breakthrough act. Age 18+

 

Ukulele-OrchestraUkulele Orchestra of Great Britain – Tuesday 26 October, 7.30pm

Who is to blame for the worldwide phenomena of ukulele orchestras and ‘ukulelemania’?  – the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain! Tap your toes with the royalty of the ukulele scene, who have plucked and sung, joked and whistled with Clean Bandit, Robbie Williams, Madness, Cat Stevens, The Ministry of Sound and even Blue Peter. The world’s very first Ukulele Orchestra is not just about ukuleles; it is about entertainment, joy, fun and artistry.

John-BishopJohn Bishop – Wednesday 27 October, 8pm

Comedy superstar John Bishop is coming to Hastings with his highly anticipated brand-new stand-up show – Right Here, Right Now. This will be John’s eighth stand-up show and it is shaping up to be his best yet. It will see him performing across the UK, Ireland, America, Canada and Europe.

Riskee_2021Riskee and the Ridicule plus support – Friday 29 October, 7pm

Pioneers of the grime-punk subculture Riskee and The Ridicule released their critically acclaimed album Body Bag Your Scene in 2019. Described as “a bombshell of challenging themes” (Kerrang!) and “a focused assault that hits you in the heart like a hammer” (Mass Movement) – the Kent quintet released a string of new singles in 2020 and aren’t about to slow down by getting back to where they belong, live on stage. Support acts SKIES (Pop, rock and emo duo) and Hastings’ own Haest.

Big Fish Little FishBig Fish Little Fish Family Rave – Saturday 30 October, 2-4pm.

A mega family rave as Big Fish Little Fish come to Hastings for the first time. Join the award-winning, pioneering crew as they bring acid house, techno, house and drum ‘n’ bass to families with 0-8 year-olds. DJs Richard Norris (The Grid) and Harold Heath will bring some original acid house flavour. Dance together on a floor filled with foam, bubbles, balloons, glitter and topped by the parachute dance. Get creepy crafty on the Nifty Natty Craft tables and enjoy the Villa Pia baby chill out or play areas.

Dragons-and-Mythical-Beasts-Dragons and Mythical Beasts  Tuesday 2 and Wednesday 3 November, 4.30pm

Unveil a myriad of dark secrets and come face to face with some of the most magnificent monsters and terrifying beasts ever to walk the earth. Discover the colossal Stone Troll, the mysterious Indrik and Japanese Baku; the Tooth Fairy (not as sweet as you’d think), an adorable Unicorn and majestic Griffin. Take your place among legendary heroes, just don’t wake the Dragon…

Fast LoveFast Love: A Tribute to George Michael – Saturday 6 November, 7.30pm

The Everything She Wants Tour is bigger than ever. It has a brand new set list featuring songs including Older, Somebody to Love, and Spinning the Wheel. The DualersThe Dualers plus support – Friday12 November, 7.30pm

Now heralded as Britain’s finest ska and reggae band, The Dualers continue to play to sell-out crowds all over the world. 2019 saw the release of their new album, Palm Trees and 80 Degrees, as they embark on their biggest UK tour to date taking in venues all over the country.
