Steeleye Span return!

In years gone by, Steeleye Span were based in Hastings. Now they rehearse here and drummer Liam Genockey still lives here, as does their new bass player, Roger Carey. And they’re back on tour, including their old home town, playing at St Mary in the Castle on 14 December 2017.

Save The Tub!

Local venue under threat but you can help. The venue, known variously as The Union Bar, The Tub or The Tubman to its many loyal users has to find approximately £5,000 to improve fire safety within the pub, or it will have to close down by the end of February. Andy Gunton writes.

Here comes 1st Annual Hastings Music Month

Hull may have scooped ‘City of Culture’ for 2017, but Hastings and Rother don’t care – because now we’re a self-styled ‘Music City’ and nobody is going to take that title away after a year: this is for keeps. John Bownas writes with undisguised enthusiasm about his discovery of the Music City concept and why he – and others – believe it’s an ideal opportunity for economic regeneration and growth.

King Size Slim storms the Stade

“King Size Slim – you must see him”, said a friend to me. “Great voice and a good guy.” High praise from this particular friend. So I wandered down to the Stade when he was performing earlier in the summer in front of the deck chairs – he was just as she said – and now he’s returning to play at The Big Sleep Hastings 2016, helping people “find their way out of the storm”. Zelly Restorick writes.
