La Bohème

Young struggling artists? Sound familiar? La Bohème, Puccini’s romantic depiction of bohemian Paris, is one of the best-loved of all operas, and a perfect match for Barefoot Opera’s Young Artists who bring their raw talent and creativity to the production.

The power of six

The Fleet Gallery on Norman Road is always a surprise. You never know who or what you will see there: Maggi Hambling, Terry Frost, Mary Fedden, Ben Nicholson or – either their work or in person – locals like Roland Jarvis, Laetitia Yhap and Amanda Nicol. Patrick Robbins is a great supporter of local artists and so HOT’s Lauris Morgan-Griffiths went along to see his latest show of ‘6’ (mainly) resident painters.

Radiating style!

Hastings-based Radiator Arts is a well-loved community arts group comprised of highly creative, slightly quirky artists.  They are responsible for some of the spectacular, colourful events in the town – who can forget Dancing with Dabs at the Seafood and Wine Festival, the Umbrella Parade during Fat Tuesday week and, of course, Talullah the mermaid at Jack in the Green?  For years they have been holding workshops at community events and children’s centres – but now your kids have an opportunity to join in regularly at Radiator’s newly formed art club!
