Council and partners set up community support hub

As the corona virus tightens its grip on society, there has been a heart-warming upswell across the country of support and offers of help for those who most need it – the elderly, vulnerable, those suffering from the virus and those who for whatever reason are unable to provide for themselves in conditions of lockdown. Hastings Borough Council, together with partners, has set up a community hub to coordinate the effort. Nick Terdre reports.

Fashion show a highlight as Bexhill comes together to support Fairtrade Fortnight

We’re in the middle of Fairtrade Fortnight, with the highlight of the Fairtrade Fashion Show coming up in Bexhill on Thursday. It’s a chance to demonstrate solidarity with disadvantaged producers and farmers in the developing world. Nick Terdre reports.

Now walk the walk, local MPs told

In the run-up to Paris, members of Bexhill and Hastings Global Justice Now were out on the streets persuading their fellow citizens that the climate talks needed to come up with a committed and fair agreement. Now that an agreement is in place, they want to see our MPs taking the necessary actions to enforce it, as they explain.

Bexhill recertified as Fairtrade town

Bexhill has successfully retained its status as a Fairtrade Town, as more local enterprises make a commitment to using fairly traded products. A demanding action plan has been approved to keep the Fairtrade ball rolling. Nick Terdre reports.
