Busking cornucopia coming to the Stade

An exciting day of music awaits on the Stade this Saturday when the Gilded Hand is raised and the second International Buskers Fair gets under way. Organiser John Knowles hopes the event will help carve out a bigger space for busking in Hastings, as he explained to Nick Terdre.

From the middle of August through early October 2013, 11 artists will be working in Hastings and St Leonards making temporary projects inspired by the unique coastal landscape and maritime activities. They come from European port and harbour cities in south-east England, Italy, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Poland, as part of the ‘Ici et Là-Here and There’ project, writes HOT’s Chris Cormack

In two years time, more stringent European standards will be applied to the quality of our bathing water and, based on current measurements, there’s a chance swimming in the sea at Hastings might be banned. However, all is not lost, writes HOT’s Zelly Restorick, there’s still time for us to make our part of the coast a place to happily and healthily enjoy the beach and sea.

Ore Green goes to local Community Trust

Hastings Borough Council have offered Ore Community Land Trust a 25-year lease on Ore Green, next to the Salvation Army Hall, boosting their campaign to protect Speckled Wood, writes Tony Polain, the trust’s vice chair.
