Putting the case for drones

Drones are not everyone’s cup of tea, and can attract fierce criticism – drone rage – as expressed in HOT’s pages last year. Drone enthusiast Nick Emmons thinks much of this is misplaced, as he explains. Via his drone, he has also supplied some fascinating aerial shots of Hastings Country Park.

Fly Kites Not Drones

We are flying kites on this day in solidarity with young people who live in countries where drones are causing death, injury and fear: countries like Syria, Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Palestine, Yemen and Somalia. Children should be free of war, free to play, to walk to school without fear of being bombed. Rona from Hastings Against War writes.

Legalised murder?

Hastings Against War have asked local residents to sign a Change petition to stop targeted armed drone killing and have circulated an article written by Chris Cole of the Drone Campaign Network. HOT’s Zelly Restorick reports – and considers the concept of killing.

On Friday, I attended a talk given by American peace activist, pacifist and co-ordinator with Voices for Creative Non Violence, Brian Terrell, at The Roomz in St Leonards-on-Sea, writes HOT’s Zelly Restorick. He spoke about the increasing use of drones by the American and British military forces and the repercussions and consequences of their deployment.
