Community initiative provides emergency food in Broomgrove Estate

As individuals, families and businesses continue to adapt and change the way we live our lives in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, Hastings Voluntary Action recently revealed a collaboration with local organisations to continue the efforts of a local Hastings foodbank. Can Hastings create a local food network?

On Saturday 22 February,  from 12 -2pm, a discussion is being held over the possibility of creating a local food work in Hastings. It takes place at All Saints Hall, All Saints St and immediately follows on from the Hastings Green Party AGM, but is open to all of any political persuasion and none. All local food and growing groups are invited to share their knowledge and expertise. Vanessa Alves reports on food redistribution in Hastings.

Hastings Food Hub and Pantry

The ability of local families to adequately feed themselves was the priority concern at a recent meeting of 15 local community organisations.  The Hastings Food Hub network are dynamic in their efforts to ensure that individuals and families on low incomes are able to access all household essentials that many of us take for granted.

It’s all systems go for Christmas charities

Christmas is a busy time for charities working with homeless people and families short of the resources to provide for themselves at the toughest time of the year. This is especially true for those charities with a Christmas focus, such as Surviving Christmas, which will be providing its usual seasonal hospitality. Another event has been arranged at the YMCA.
