Armada than you! Horrible Histories Part II at De La Warr Pavilion

The De La Warr Pavilion has been lucky enough to play host to The Birmingham Stage Company’s production of Horrible Histories. British history was deftly telescoped into sixty minutes as two quick-change artistes, Neal Foster and Alison Fitzjohn, managed to portray entire armies, Boudicca, Dick Turpin, Esmerelda the traffic warden and many more. “All against a backdrop of more severed heads and loud farting noises than I’ve ever heard in one performance,” reports our shy, retiring Cathy Simpson.

Runway Walk West

Figures in the landscape

International Women’s Day on Saturday 8 March couldn’t have been a better day – blue skies, sun and light winds – for  RUNWAY’s Walking West from Hastings to Bexhill. Organised by Roz Cran and Sharon Haward, this was the fifth initiative by Artists Without Studios, creating photographs of figures in the landscape. Dressed in black, as instructed, HOT reporter Lauris Morgan-Griffiths went along for the walk.

A natural slice of  life

HOT has previously reviewed the gallery in the empty shop in Bexhill-on-Sea town centre, however, with a changing raft of artists from the De La Warr Pavilion’s Artist critique group in the Twelve by Six show,  HOT reporter, Lauris Morgan-Griffiths, thought it well worth a revisit to see their last show.

De La Warr exhibiting local artists

Something odd is stirring in Bexhill. The De La Warr Pavilion is sponsoring and showcasing twelve local artists.  It is refreshing to see an art gallery looking towards their own vicinity rather than casting their eye further afield and jumping over what is straight in front of them. HOT reporter Lauris Morgan-Griffiths went to Bexhill to find out what  was happening in  the pop art gallery in an empty shop in the town centre.
