After 11 years of being associated with St Leonards and Hastings, photographer JJ Waller is proud to finally be a part of the Coastal Currents festival this September. Erica Smith interviews him about his appearance at the inaugural Through The Lens Festival of Photography from 31 August to 8 September at St Mary in the Castle.
Friend of HOT and photographer JJ Waller has been photographing St Leonards for over a decade. The photos here document his experience of the St Leonards Festival events – and the Jeremy Corbyn rally – last Saturday.
Christmas came early for St Leonards, in the form of the Frost Parade and Frost Fair on Saturday 28 November. As always on important occasions, HOT’s favourite photographer, JJ Waller, was there to cover the parade, market and general fun. Scroll down to see the day through JJ Waller’s eyes.
Brighton-based photographer JJ Waller first visited St Leonards in 2008, and fell under the spell of the area. Since then he’s made more than 60 visits with his camera, documenting the streets and the people of the town. HOT’s Erica Smith met up with him to find out what attracts him to S’Lens, as he affectionately calls our town.
It’s rare to have a sunny Easter holiday period, and after the wild winds on Thursday night, the weather didn’t look promising, but spring blossomed at the perfect time for ATownExploresABook’s Railway Children event on Saturday in Kings Road and there was even an opportunity to bask in the sun with a young seal.
