Covid Spring, Hastings 2020

As the nation begins to ease out of strict lockdown, Marybeth Haas reflects in images on the juxtaposition of the pandemic forcing our habits to change alongside the unstoppable unfolding of Spring. She sees the pandemic as an opportunity for people to reflect, question and to allow more of their own true nature to come to the forefront, to reassess priorities and to  choose healthier ways of being.

Lib Dems petition for working party to guide Covid recovery

Tories and HBC at odds over relaxing restrictions

While local Tories call for restrictions to be relaxed, and toilets and tennis courts to be reopened, the Labour-dominated council says such facilities will stay shut for the time being and urge visitors to stay away. On 1 June the government is partially easing the lockdown. Nick Terdre reports.

Hastings community creates food safety net for residents in need

Testing facilities improve but testing statistics still confuse

Life for key workers living locally who need testing for coronavirus has been made easier by the opening of a drive-through testing centre in Bexhill. Meanwhile the government is to provide funding to local authorities as it prepares to move into test-and-trace operations. However, the true testing capacity appears to a lot less than the government claims. Nick Terdre reports.
