Down with Black Friday, up with Frost Fayre!

Black Friday, yet another clarion call to spend, spend, spend from Big Commerce, is not to every retailer’s taste. St Leonard’s Central proprietor Clive Gross has become so incensed by the damaging effect of the hype around Black Friday that today he is running a special ‘No Discount Day’ at the shop instead. And if you want to support local producers and retailers in St Leonards, in addition to Clive, don’t forget to attend the Frost Fayre in Kings Road tomorrow. Nick Terdre reports.

Come to the fair!

Fairlight Hall is always worth a visit by the keen gardener, if only to see how the expert gardening staff under head gardener, Peter Godwin, succeed in producing a new display for each season of the year. Coming up now is the chance to meet  and talk to gardening experts of all kinds as they display their often unique wares, writes HOT’s Chris Cormack.

St Leonards goes UpMarket

This Friday, Saturday and Sunday, St Leonards is celebrating the wealth of world-class designer makers that live in the area. There’s not one, but three designer maker events – one in the Baker Mamonova Gallery in Norman Road, and two in Kings Road (Claremont Studios and The Kave Gallery). Erica Smith caught up with K Avery Stallion of St Leonards accessories to see what she’ll be showing off this weekend…
