Alastair Hendy the man behind the new/old Home Store

Alastair Hendy likes old. He has restyled, refurbished a Tudor house into a home  and a Georgian building into a spanking new, creaky very brown, old fashioned Home Store. As Hendy was preparing to open his immaculately styled Old Town Hastings Tudor house for Christmas HOT reporter, Lauris Morgan-Griffiths went to find out more about the man behind the shop and his styled parallel universe.

‘Hallo Sausages’, The Lyrics of Ian Dury

In the year he would have celebrated his 70th Birthday, Jemima Dury, daughter of musician Ian Dury, has published a book of 160 of her father’s song lyrics.  Titled ‘Hallo Sausages’, the first and only words written for his autobiography, the book also includes a personal history of his life, a spectrum of personal photos and illustrations, some of the original manuscripts, memorabilia and a CD.  HOT’s Zelly Restorick met with Hastings resident, Jemima Dury, to talk about the book and memories of her father.

Barcelona Boomerang!

The challenge? A charity cycle ride from Hastings to Barcelona – and back – in eight days. Five cyclists. Two thousand plus miles. All weather conditions. Altitudes as high as 2000 metres above sea level. Temperatures as low as 2°. Why? To raise awareness of cystic fibrosis and funds for The Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
