Nurturing, nourishing naturism

At Tim Crook’s January Bavard Bar, held in St Leonards’ Kino-Teatr, Keith Palmer was one of the three speakers, whose mission is to inspire and interest the audience about their passion for 15 minutes followed by a Q&A. The title of Keith’s talk was ‘The Birthday Suit: how styles have changed,’ and his passion is naturism, especially naked rambling with the group, Stark Trekkers. Zelly Restorick writes.

Why Muriel Matters matters

Not so long ago an elderly Australian lady could be found most days at the Hastings Public Library thumbing the various newspapers and keeping up to date on current events. Few knew that this lady had, at one time in her youth, filled up the columns of these very same publications  with some of her own exploits. The aging lady’s name was Muriel Matters and, sitting in her library chair, she could scarcely have imagined that a building down the road would one day be named in her honour. Steven Glenn Anderson speaks to Frances Bedford, secretary of the Muriel Matters Society in Australia about the life of this fascinating suffragist and what the historical society named after her has been up to so far this year.

Request for help for Javad

A few months ago, HOT reported on Javad’s case (see links below) – a young autistic man from Iran who is seeking safe asylum here in the UK. He’s lived here since his early teenage years and now has a home with two kind and caring local people, Terry and Stuart Alexander, who care for him very much and want him to be able to stay in this country. Your letters of  support are a much-needed contribution to Javad’s case. HOT’s Zelly Restorick writes.
