Coronavirus statistical update: a better estimate of deaths made available by ONS

As the coronavirus works its way towards peak effect, HOT is providing a regular (no longer daily) update of the statistics for our region and the country provided by the public health authorities and other official sources. Fuller information on deaths has been made available by the Office of National Statistics, including a figure for those occurring in care homes. Text and charts by Russell Hall.

Artist’s response to Covid-19 goes viral

An appeal to promote buying art direct from the artist that began in Hastings four weeks ago has gone global. At a time when exhibitions have been cancelled and galleries closed, #artistsupportpledge is bringing income to artists who are struggling as the result of the global pandemic. Meet artist Matthew Burrows who created the hashtag which gives creatives a new way to sell their work.

Charles Eisenstein: a post Covid vision

HOT’s Zelly Restorick recently bumped into a friend and her little daughter when at the local farm shop for supplies – and was told about Charles Eisenstein’s insightful and thoughtful vision for a post Covid world. Eisenstein is the author of books such as Sacred Economics and The More Beautiful World our Hearts Know is Possible.
