Hastings lawyers step out to promote access to justice

On Monday 9 September lawyers from Hastings along with colleagues and friends will be taking part in the annual Hastings legal walk to support local free legal advice centres. Nick Terdre reports.

Busy year for Women’s Voice

2019 has been a busy year for Women’s Voice. Thanks to a grant from the Tampon Tax Fund, via Sussex Community Foundation, the group has been running a project entitled Finding Our Voices. And as this project draws to a close, Women’s Voice has received another grant, this time from Rosa, the UK Fund for Girls and Women, to run a trailblazing programme that will make it easier for migrant and refugee women to access health provision. Ann Kramer, chair of Women’s Voice, explains what’s been going on.

Malcolm Glover’s India

People fall in love with different countries – India and Africa, particularly, engender powerful emotions. India has certainly got under the skin of photographer Malcolm Glover. He has been visiting the country for over ten years, partly to escape the English winter but more for the sheer joy of that chaotic, colourful, teeming country, the spirit of  which he has captured in his distinctive photographs. Those images now make up a solo exhibition at A Wave of Dreams in St Leonards. HOT’s Lauris Morgan-Griffiths stepped in to Glover’s soulful interpetation of that extraordinary place.

Local parties team up to demand MP respond to suspension of Parliament

The Greens, Labour and the Liberal Democrats have jointly penned an open letter to local MP Amber Rudd demanding she make clear her position on last week’s suspension of Parliament by prime minister Boris Johnson. The public are invited to participate in a mass signing of the letter next Saturday. Nick Terdre reports.
