Collapsible stools, a bike and a motley collection of folk poured into the space in Bookbuster’s that Tim Barton had only just managed to get ready at the end of his long working day. And nobody could guess what a heavy day that had been as he handed out glasses of wine and, along with Pete Donohue who was hosting the event, made everyone welcome: the three special guests, poets from the surrounding areas and the ones like us who had come to listen.

Stand up for Palestine benefit gig

Hastings Palestine Solidarity Campaign and Unite the Union have organised a stand up comedy benefit gig with all proceeds going to Defense for Children International Palestine (DCIP) and Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions (ICAHD).

Independent book shops are gems, standing out from – and up against – competition from the book selling chain stores. Tim Barton is a committed book lover and book seller, supporting local writers, performers and artists. In need of refurbishment and expansion into new areas – like a cafe for visitors – Tim is keen to raise some financial support to manifest the vision he has for Bookbuster.
