New photography festival launches in Hastings

It is hard setting up a new project in Hastings because there is always so much going on; and a brand new photographic festival could have been labelled madness. There are a lot of good photographers in the area but photographers are notoriously lone wolves and do not like to be herded together. HOT’s Lauris Morgan-Griffiths went to talk to the Through the Lens Festival team, Jo Kilmartin and Kim Hall, to find out more.

Red Ladies Clod Ensemble

Last autumn, the Clod Ensemble came to Hastings to release their performance art piece, The Red Ladies, on the unsuspecting folk of Hastings. Dressed in their black coats, red scarves, black sunglasses and red heels, The Red Ladies caused quite a stir in the town and the Zoom Arts’ photographers were there to capture the day. Steve Kilmartin reports.

Street life through the lens

Contrasting views of street life in London and India is the theme of the new Zoom Arts photography exhibition which opens shortly at its St Leonards Warrior Square station gallery. Nick Terdre reports.
