Identity: a twin town collaboration

You are invited to the launch of ‘Identity’, a collaboration between artists from Hastings and Dordrecht, twin towns since 1982. The collaboration is in response to the City of Dordrecht’s six-month event to mark the 400th anniversary of the Synod of Dort, an international religious assembly held in Dordrecht, which led to the first translation of the Bible into Dutch. Christine Gist writes.

A fold in time and space

Fold is a new exhibition by visual artist, Sharon Haward, who has thirty years experience of developing a multi-disciplinary practice hinging on the exploration of site and sense of place. She is exhibiting a range of assemblages and objects inspired by Modernist architecture and the contributions made to it by female and male architects and designers. The work on show has been created during a short residency at The School Creative Centre, Rye. HOT’s Zelly Restorick asks Sharon about the new exhibition, her inspirations and goals.

If you haven’t already done so, get your skates on and go and see Sharon Haward’s PEEK installation – white voile sheets flapping in the wind just up St John’s Road from Warrior Square station – which comes to the end of its run on Wednesday 25 May. Sharon and Christine Gist, curator of The Space, in which the installation is housed, give their thoughts on the work.
