Local pub signs and 1066

Inspired by the 950th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings, pub historians David and Lynda Russell decided to delve into the history of pub signs connected to the epoch-making events of 1066. Members of the Pub History Society, they have been diligently researching pubs around Hastings and further afield since 2007. Here are the results of their original research. Kris Dollimore

Bluesman Kris Dollimore sets a high standard for Hastings

During a career in music spanning more than three decades, guitarist Kris Dollimore has travelled the world, gracing some of its greatest stages, and has played with numerous international bands and artists. Names you may have heard of include The Godfathers, The Damned, Dee Dee Ramone, Johnny Thunders and Adam Ant. He also plays with Del Amitri, who just last week announced a UK tour for early 2014. Kris numbers the likes of Johnny Depp, David Bowie and Chrissie Hynde in his fan club. Musician Ian Greensmith gets excited about the upcoming gig at The Royal Standard.
