An evening in with HIPCC prizewinner Maxim Kinasov

In the days of the coronavirus, we cannot attend live music performances, but we can turn to the web. Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition has launched a series of short online concerts to help fill the gap. Competition prizewinner Maxim Kinasov will be performing Franck-Bauer and Rachmaninov tomorrow, Friday, evening at 7pm. Nick Terdre reports.

Women composers to the fore in the Challenge of Change

On Wednesday 1 May at 7.30pm the Kino-Teatr in St Leonards hosts a chamber music concert dedicated to female composers as part of Hastings Philharmonic’s Challenge of Change festival. This features some great musicians, including pianist Roman Kosyakov, winner of the 2018 HIPCC, and Angela Jung, the lead violin of Hastings Philharmonic Orchestra. Will Robertson, cello, and counter-tenor Alex Pullinger make up a very impressive team, writes Chris Cormack.

Piano competition goes biennial

The prestigious Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition, which has been growing in stature every year for the last 14 years, is to become a biennial event after next year’s competition. Julian Norridge reports.
