Pier friends opt for new role

Nearly six months on since the pier passed into private hands, the Friends of Hastings Pier have decided they still want to be involved in helping to ensure the pier’s long-term future. They would like to cultivate a constructive relationship with the new owner but also to perform a watchdog function over matters such as maintenance which are essential to the survival of the iconic structure. Nick Terdre reports.

Hefty bill for HBC following pier appeals

FoHP still looking forward after pier sale

When it came last week, the news fell like a bombshell – Hastings pier had been sold to the owner of Eastbourne pier, Abid Gulzar. Despite the massive efforts of the local community, the Friends of Hastings Pier’s bid had been rejected. The Friends, however, are not going away – they intend to continue working to secure the best future for the pier, and are seeking an early meeting with the new owner. Nick Terdre reports.

Friends make bold request to run the pier

While extending the Crowdfunding period, the Friends of Hastings Pier have made a bold request to the administrators to be allowed to run the pier during the second half of the year. Nick Terdre reports.

£100,000 still needed to save the pier!

The final push to persuade the administrators that the Friends of Hastings Pier can muster the financial support to run the pier is under way – the fund-raising effort is being ratcheted up to maximum to secure backing of £500,000 by the end of the month – 9pm on Thursday 31 May to be precise. HOT’s Nick Terdre (also one of the Friends) reports.

The pier needs your support!

The Friends of Hastings Pier (FoHP) are urging all pier supporters to attend the public meeting called for Monday 23 April to make clear to administrators and stakeholders that there is mass backing for keeping the pier in community hands. Meanwhile a bid to bring Hastings Pier Charity out of administration has been submitted to the administrators. HOT’s Nick Terdre (also a member of FoHP) has been updated on the current state of the campaign by another member, Jim Breeds.
