Country Park ‘bunker’: protest picnic
It ain’t over till it’s over!
The previously reported ‘Country Park anger’ is intensifying, Bernard McGinley gives an update.
How many of you remember the West St Leonards Bathing Pool? I’ve only seen photos of it, writes Zelly Restorick, but I met someone a couple of days ago, who’d been there as a child. “It was an Olympic size swimming pool, filled with sea water,’ Janet Harding told me. ‘And there was a diving pool and in the winter, people used to roller skate around the outside of it. It was a place where people came together.”
Alexandra Park is the place to be on Saturday September 1, when The Summer Day @ The Park will once again be celebrated! Apparently, writes Zelly Restorick, more than 4,000 people turned up last year. The park is, however, large and accommodating and there’ll be plenty of room for everyone. All ages and varieties welcome, and – music to recession hit ears – entry and most of the games and attractions are FREE!
