Beatles Day 20 – as founder Pete prepares to say goodbye

It’s the 20th edition of Beatles Day this Sunday and founder and mainstay Pete Prescott’s last hurrah. He takes his leave as organiser against the background of a record number of acts and the inauguration of a fourth stage to accommodate them all. Nick Terdre reports.

Sgt Pepper top of the bill at Beatles Day

It’s Beatles Day at White Rock Theatre this Sunday so it must be spring! There’s a special anniversary this year – it’s 50 years since the phenomenal Sgt Pepper album was launched on an unsuspecting world. Nick Terdre remembers it well. Photos by Russell Jacobs of the 2016 event.

Beatles Day – 17 years at number one!

Last Sunday was not just another day – it was Beatles Day at the White Rock Theatre, where the crowds came streaming, the musicians, (whether in the first flush of youth or the creaking stages of old age), enjoyed their 15 minutes on stage and the takings for Macmillan Cancer Support kept mounting. Even getting soaked on the way home wasn’t enough to dampen Nick Terdre’s enthusiasm.

Roll up, roll up, it’s Beatles Day this Sunday!

A fun day out for all lies in wait at the White Rock Theatre this Sunday when it stages Beatles Day. This year’s edition, the 17th, features as ever faces old and new, not to mention a tribute to the Fab Four’s legendary producer George Martin and for the first time a dance troupe. Nick Terdre reveals all.

Fundraising for fire-damaged St Michael’s

Following the tragic fire of July 11th 2015 that affected and subsequently closed St Michael’s Hospice in St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex, a trio of Hastings-based musicians, promoters and local music enthusiasts decided that something needed to be done to help and support this much loved local service.

Fun and funds aplenty at Beatles Day

In terms of its main objectives – providing an entertaining day out for young and old alike and raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support – the 16th Beatles Day on 12 April  was a resounding double success. Words by Nick Terdre, photos by Johnny Powell.

The singer’s going to sing a song…

It’s Beatles Day, one of the musical highlights of the year in Hastings, this Sunday at the White Rock Theatre. At this musical extravaganza which lasts from midday until 10.30pm, you can catch 93 different acts featuring more than 500 musicians. Nick Terdre can’t wait.

A splendid time was guaranteed for all

It’s only a teenager, now in its 15th year, but Beatles Day has grown into a massive event. Last Sunday saw some 70 acts and 350 performers – 95% of the bands are from Hastings – divided between the main stage and the more intimate downstairs space of the White Rock Hotel. Nick Terdre enjoyed the show.
