Transition Town news: November

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Transition Town Hastings: the group was established to respond to the challenges of climate change, over-dependence on fossil fuels and economic instability; to support affiliated groups; to provide practical examples of sustainable living; to promote knowledge-sharing, raise awareness and encourage community participation and well-being. Genuinely in awe of Ore

Ore is said to be one of the poorest parts of the country, yet HOT’s Zelly Restorick feels it has much to offer its residents, workers and passing through visitors. With this in mind, she spoke to Mags Pawson, the manager at Ore Community Centre (OCC), whose dedication and generosity have made the centre a thriving hive of activities and events for many years. Long may the OCC ship sail!

Hastings Lantern Trail shines a light on cancer

Residents of Hastings and Rother will be lighting up the streets on Friday 11 May with a special night time lantern trail to raise awareness of signs and symptoms of cancer. Report by Chris Cooper of Unique Improvements, a social enterprise that specialises in supporting community awareness of cancer.

Protest against Ore Library closure

On Saturday 28th October supporters of the Save Ore Library campaign will gather at the Ore Community Centre cafe, 455 Old London Road TH35 5BH at 10:30am. Around 11:00 they will walk the short distance to Ore Library with placards, banners and books for a photoshoot. All are very welcome.
