Greens petition HBC to reject Harbour Quarter

Hastings Green Party continues its campaign against the proposed Harbour Quarter development in the Old Town, handing in a petition calling on the council to reject the plan to the mayor, Cllr Nigel Sinden, in the presence of the party’s deputy leader Amelia Womack. Nick Terdre reports.

LibDems tell it like it is!

The Liberal Democrats have already made a mark on this year’s local elections by choosing not to stand candidates in Old Hastings in order to improve the chances of the Green Party succeeding on the basis of opposition to the proposed harbour marina development which the two parties share. Now their best-known face in town, Nick Perry, along with his fellow candidate Eve Montgomery, tell HOT’s Nick Terdre how they see this moment in local politics and the changes they would like to see in local government.

LibDems stand aside for Greens in Old Hastings

The Liberal Democrats have decided to stand aside in Old Hastings ward and switch their support to the Green Party candidates at the local elections in May. The Greens have welcomed the move – both parties are keen to see Labour’s control of Hastings Borough Council subjected to greater scrutiny and opposition. Nick Terdre reports.

Heritage forum on 1066 and town development

This year’s heritage forum, to be held on Wednesday 12 October, will look at the relationship between the Battle of Hastings and the town’s later development as a coastal resort, as co-organisers the University of Brighton and Hastings Museum & Art Gallery explain.
