Fat Tuesday takes centre stage

The Fat Tuesday festival is upon us! A long weekend of music and fun running from Friday 24 to Tuesday 28 February. Full details are available on the Fat Tuesday website, from which Nick Terdre has culled the following essential details. Photos (mostly) from Fat Tuesday.

Dorey The Wise

Dorey the Wise go Off Axis in Hastings

The Off Axis Network works by connecting like-minded musicians from across the UK, enabling them to ‘trade’ their audiences with one another, so they can play more shows, in more places, to more people. The idea of the network is to substantially increase the circulation of artists around the country and offer them the opportunity to build national fan bases. Barry Ashley writes about last week’s Dorey the Wise gig with the Rupees at the Albion.

Fat Tuesday: last two days

Following a busy weekend schedule in which the sun shone on the Umbrella Parade, many enjoyed the Preservation Sunday music and beer festival at St Mary in the Castle, not to mention the Off Axis sets played by up-and-coming bands at the Carlisle, while yet others enjoyed the way-out sounds and performances of Sonic Sunday in St Leonards, culminating in something really different at a secret location skilfully disguised beneath a garage, Fat Tuesday moves into its final two days. Here be the word from the website.

Fat Tuesday extravaganza kicks off Friday

Fat Tuesday – Hastings’ version of Mardi Gras or carnival, the days when everyone lets their hair down before putting on a hair shirt for Lent (or maybe in Hastings they don’t) – has taken a quantum leap forward this year to become one of the town’s leading festivals. As the clock ticks down to the opening event on Friday, Nick Terdre takes a look at the cornucopia of musical entertainment on offer.
