Beach visitors in focus for Coastal Currents

As part of Coastal Currents Malcolm Glover has taken his video camera to provide a close-up of people enjoying the beach in St Leonards-on-Sea. Judy Parkinson, a fan of the photographer, explains the background to the Groynes 41-42 project.

Invoking generations of prayer

It is a tradition in St Leonards that a chair outside a shop signifies that it is open. At Lucy Bell Gallery, two chairs and a table are outside the gallery, but the windows are shrouded and it looks like there is nobody home. Gingerly, entering the darkened, candle lit room, HOT’s Lauris Morgan-Griffiths went along to see what was happening.

Virtuoso

At the end of the week PhotoHastings presents an exhibition of photographs taken by John Cole and Alexander Brattell to celebrate the Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition 2013-2014. Chris Cormack uses the occasion to consider the impact of this competition.

Sculpting time

There is a widely held notion that the camera never lies, that photographs always truthfully represent what is within the viewer. But don’t tell that to photographer Malcolm Glover, says HOT reporter John Cole.
