Peter Chowney responds to council critics

Angry local residents have submitted over 450 objections to Seachange Sussex’s planning application for a “Gateway Road” joining the £100m Bexhill-Hastings Link Road to Wrestwood Road in Bexhill.

Toeing the line…

On Monday 8 and Tuesday 9 April, anti-Link Road protestors marched to the Department for Transport (DfT) to demand the full DfT report on the Link Road was made available to the public. HOT’s Erica Smith put her cards on the table and joined ‘Operation Disclosure’ to search for the uncensored DfT report.

Local residents blow whistles in the snow to stop the Link Road

Today, Monday 11 March, opponents of the Bexhill-Hastings Link Road (BHLR) braved the snow to blow whistles outside the local Department for Transport (DfT) office in Hastings – and leafleted workers going into the DfT’s Information Rights. The action launched a call for DfT workers to “Blow the Whistle on the Link Road” by leaking the Department’s blacked-out recommendations about whether or not to fund the £100m project. HOT’s Erica Smith applauds the campaigners for another creative protest.

Combe Haven Valley Badger Sett Eviction

Badgers evicted as Link Road contractors destroy setts

Local people have reported seeing badgers out and about during the day as Bexhill-Hastings Link Road (BHLR) contractors start to destroy badger setts along the route of the Road. Badgers are nocturnal and would usually not come out in daylight.
