Local writer making waves abroad

Caliban’s Codex is a play written and produced by local scriptwriter John Knowles and his theatre production company, It’s Not Us. HOT’s Zelly Restorick asks him about the inspiration for his latest work and how it was chosen to be performed at The Prague Fringe Festival 2018.

Donated work by Michael Davis.

'First Heard'

‘First Heard Shorts’ script-writing competition

If you have ever had a desire to be a script writer, or you already are and have a short play script idea you think is a winner, if you fancy hearing your words read by professional actors, or you just have a story to tell, then ‘First Heard* Shorts’ is a competition with your name on it. The competition has been organised by local writer and script developer, John Knowles, in support of The Hastings Fringe Festival. John is a prolific writer and producer and despite his busy schedule, continues to support local writers and theatre projects.

Time Please

Time Please

‘Time Please’ returns to The St Leonards pub on 12 and 13 June, following five days at the Brighton Fringe Festival. It’s Not Us theatre’s last outing in The St Leonards not only brought the house down, but, also the police turning up on mass after reports of a ‘woman in danger’. Whilst rehearsing the play, the company were confused to find a road full of police cars and police officers in stab vests beating on the door. Obviously the play is too real and it is one of the few plays which has to inform the local police that they are performing!
