Jenny Tonge delivers a clear message on Israel's apartheid state.

Despite Israel lobby’s efforts, Tonge delivers clear message

Despite an extensive campaign of intimidation, abuse and vitriol by the pro Israel lobby, Hastings Palestine Solidarity Campaign succeeded in holding its planned talk by Jenny Tonge on Israel’s apartheid state – a victory, as HPSC says, for freedom of speech. The group’s Laurie Holden reports on the meeting, and describes the strenuous efforts which preceded it to overcome the attempts to disrupt it by the faceless defenders of an unacceptable Israel. Local woman calls for ‘Justice for Palestinians’

At a recent meeting in Hastings, St Leonards resident, Leah Levane, provided an eyewitness account of life in the occupied Palestinian territories. Those attending heard of her experience of being part of the largest ever all Jewish delegation to visit the occupied territories. Leah was one of 130 Jewish people, mainly from the US, who visited Hebron in May of last year. One of their aims was to restore a Palestinian family to the home they were evicted from 20 years ago. John Enefer writes.

A peaceful mission and vision

With the subject of Palestine and Israel very much in the news since US President Trump’s announcement that America will recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, there will be a chance for people in Hastings to hear a first-hand account of a recent visit to Palestine made by a St Leonards woman, Leah Levane. John Enefer writes.
