Terry and Javad

Request for help for Javad

A few months ago, HOT reported on Javad’s case (see links below) – a young autistic man from Iran who is seeking safe asylum here in the UK. He’s lived here since his early teenage years and now has a home with two kind and caring local people, Terry and Stuart Alexander, who care for him very much and want him to be able to stay in this country. Your letters of  support are a much-needed contribution to Javad’s case. HOT’s Zelly Restorick writes.

Help local family save Javad from deportation

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote an article about a young man called Javad and the any-day-now threat of his deportation back to Iran. To try and prevent this, a petition for the Home Office had been created by the family offering him a home and local people who know him. Signatures have been added to the petition, but more are needed – and I am writing again, to ask you to consider signing, if you haven’t as yet. With gratitude on behalf of all those connected to Javad, writes Zelly Restorick. I assure you 100% that this is a genuine situation about local people and their deep love for a young man they wish to protect and offer a safe haven.

Save Javad from deportation

The local people who have created this petition for the Home Office are totally genuine and trustworthy. Sonia Plato, a recently retired CEO, Sousan Lari, a tutor, and Terry Alexander, also a tutor and one half of the couple who have offered Javad a safe space to be, have sent out the petition in the hope of preventing this young man from being deported to Iran. They are honest and caring people – and I know 100% that this petition can be trusted as real and sincere, writes Zelly Restorick. Their concern for Javad’s safety is genuine. Please read on and sign the petition – and make a difference to the life of this young man and those who care for him and wish for him to stay within the safety of his new family.

Drawing Paradise on the ‘Axis of Evil’

Local artist, peace campaigner and activist, Emily Johns, travelled to Iran in 2006 and again this February on an international peacemaking delegation. The resulting artwork is being exhibited at the Hastings Arts Forum and offers personal insights into life in Iran, past and present. HOT’s Zelly Restorick went along to take a look.

St Leonards couple on peace mission to Iran

A few days ago, I spoke to Maya Evans, leader of the first peace delegation to Afghanistan since the West’s invasion of that country in 2001.  A couple of days later, writes HOT’s Zelly Restorick, I heard from local resident Emily Johns that she and Milan Rai were about to embark on a trip to Iran, also on a personal mission of peace and reconciliation.  All three are residents of St Leonards.
