The 70-year Israeli destruction of Palestine

This year marks 70 years since the violent displacement of the Palestinian people – known as the Nakba (Arabic for “catastrophe”). Laurie Holden of the Hastings Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) reports on the ongoing Nakba and local events to commemorate this.

Questioning Israeli ‘apartheid’ in Palestine

He will be explaining how he arrived at this conclusion at a meeting organised by Hasting Palestine Solidarity Campaign on Saturday 17 September. Stop arming Israel: public meeting against the arms trade

Jessie Normanschild of Campaign Against the Arms Trade, will be speaking in Hastings on Thursday 29 October at 7pm in the White Rock Hotel. With many others who took time off from work, study and daily lives she recently protested at the London Docklands arms fair. It is one of the largest in the world and featured 1,500 exhibitors. It was disrupted by hundreds of imaginative campaigners – but the arms trade continues.

Resounding success of The Siege

Billed as “an immersive and jaw dropping theatrical experience”, The Siege – performed by the Jenin Freedom Theatre at St Mary In the Castle – proved to be a huge success. Gill Knight reports.

Palestine play commemorates siege at Bethlehem

The Siege comes to St Mary-in-the-Castle as part of the Jenin Freedom Theatre UK Tour after being invited here by the Hastings Palestine Solidarity Campaign. It is directed by Nabil Al-Raee and Zoe Lafferty. John Knowles previews the play.
