Piano competition set to start

If it’s wet and cold and February, it must be that time of year when brilliant young concert pianists from all around the world descend on Hastings to cheer us all up by taking part in the ever more prestigious Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition (HIPCC). Piano Competition 2019 seeks volunteers

The organisers of the Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition, increasingly regarded as an important fixture in the country’s musical calendar, are looking for more volunteers to help in this exciting and prestigious event. Hannah Deeble writes.

Piano competition goes biennial

The prestigious Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition, which has been growing in stature every year for the last 14 years, is to become a biennial event after next year’s competition. Julian Norridge reports.

Orchestral backing heats up piano finals

Three of the six finalists in the Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition had their last chance to impress the jury last night. Tonight the competition  reaches its climax with the remaining three finalists going through their paces and the jury eventually anointing the winner. Six battle through to reach piano finals

It was cold outside but plenty of heat was being generated in the auditorium of the White Rock Theatre by the semi-finalists in the Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition. HOT correspondent Heidi de Winter watched and listened, drinking in the atmosphere and the music, as the remaining 11 contestants were whittled down to six. Photos by Bob Mazzer.
