Visitor centre behind schedule and over budget

Construction of the new visitor centre in Hastings Country Park is not going well. The project is running well behind schedule and costs have risen substantially. In fact, after looking closely at the relevant regulations as well as the council’s own recent references to the matter, Bernard McGinley concludes that planning permission has lapsed. Greenway walking season kicks off!

Hastings Greenway Group is summoning supporters to join in this year’s first walk for the greenway. They welcome the fact that the project enjoys support from most of the parties in the upcoming local elections, but have found it hard to clarify whether they qualify for a grant from a walking and cycling fund which could help bring the dream closer to reality. It took 11 minutes for Hastings Borough Council to decide that its application for a Visitor Centre was entirely acceptable. Bernard McGinley finds that you don’t need a sewage engineer to know which way the wind blows.

Energy efficient visitor centre at Hastings Country Park

HOT has heard from Hastings Borough Council that they are in the final stages of planning to build the new visitor centre for Hastings Country Park. They say that the visitor centre will offer improved facilities for visitors to the park with the opportunity to learn about all the park has to offer (past and present), to take part in events and activities and to relax and enjoy the amazing views over the English Channel.

Hastings parks best in the UK. Official!

Hastings Borough Council has won two very special awards for innovation in parks management. The projects that secured the awards were for bathing water quality improvement in Alexandra Park and the introduction of Belted Galloway cattle, conservation grazing and heathland restoration at Hastings Country Park.
