Fat Tuesday takes centre stage

The Fat Tuesday festival is upon us! A long weekend of music and fun running from Friday 24 to Tuesday 28 February. Full details are available on the Fat Tuesday website, from which Nick Terdre has culled the following essential details. Photos (mostly) from Fat Tuesday.

Finale: musicians crowd the stage for the collective rendering of Hey Jude led by Rick Pentecost on the piano.

Beatles Day – 17 years at number one!

Last Sunday was not just another day – it was Beatles Day at the White Rock Theatre, where the crowds came streaming, the musicians, (whether in the first flush of youth or the creaking stages of old age), enjoyed their 15 minutes on stage and the takings for Macmillan Cancer Support kept mounting. Even getting soaked on the way home wasn’t enough to dampen Nick Terdre’s enthusiasm.

Roll up, roll up, it’s Beatles Day this Sunday!

A fun day out for all lies in wait at the White Rock Theatre this Sunday when it stages Beatles Day. This year’s edition, the 17th, features as ever faces old and new, not to mention a tribute to the Fab Four’s legendary producer George Martin and for the first time a dance troupe. Nick Terdre reveals all.

Swinging ukeleles

Tricity Vogue presents her own blend of slink and sass – the music she likes to call “cheeky jazz”. Think Peggy Lee after a few too many cocktails!  Tricity Vogue’s own All Girl Swing Band joins her at St Mary in the Castle, Hastings on Friday 11 December. Tricity is an acclaimed cabaret performer in her own right and created her successful and modern swing band  with bags of musical talent and irrepressible charm, while adapting many modern classics to the ‘swing’ genre, writes HOT’s Chris Cormack
