FoHP still looking forward after pier sale

When it came last week, the news fell like a bombshell – Hastings pier had been sold to the owner of Eastbourne pier, Abid Gulzar. Despite the massive efforts of the local community, the Friends of Hastings Pier’s bid had been rejected. The Friends, however, are not going away – they intend to continue working to secure the best future for the pier, and are seeking an early meeting with the new owner. Nick Terdre reports.

Only two weeks to save Hastings Pier!

The pier is now up for sale to a commercial buyer: the last time this happened it was left to decay and was eventually abandoned. Erica Smith reminds us to show our support for keeping the pier run by the community.

Do-or-die time for the pier

The pier needs your support!

The Friends of Hastings Pier (FoHP) are urging all pier supporters to attend the public meeting called for Monday 23 April to make clear to administrators and stakeholders that there is mass backing for keeping the pier in community hands. Meanwhile a bid to bring Hastings Pier Charity out of administration has been submitted to the administrators. HOT’s Nick Terdre (also a member of FoHP) has been updated on the current state of the campaign by another member, Jim Breeds.

The pier substructure must be kept in community hands, say the Friends of Hastings Pier.

Hard going for Friends of Hastings Pier

It’s hard going for the Friends of Hastings Pier as they face a deadline of 12 April to submit their proposal for bringing the pier out of administration, on top of which the council has turned down their application to have the pier designated an asset of community value. But at least the administrators have agreed to meet them. Nick Terdre reports.

Friends react as pier put on sale

News that buyers are being sought for Hastings pier by the administrators has prompted action by the Friends of Hastings Pier, who have applied to have the structure reregistered as a community asset. Nick Terdre reports.

Friends of Hastings Pier regroup

A people’s movement to save the People’s Pier has been launched. The overriding priority for the new Friends of Hastings Pier is to ensure that the pier remains in community hands. HOT’s Nick Terdre, himself a supporter of the campaign, reports.
