£800,000 from EU to support Hastings fisheries

Hastings Borough Council has secured £800,000 of EU funding to support applications for fisheries-related projects made through FLAG – the Fisheries Local Action Group. Although the UK is moving closer to Brexit, there is still opportunity to apply for further EU monies. Nick Terdre reports.

Local fishery launches new round of projects

This week the Fisheries Local Action Group (FLAG) phase 2 project, backed by EU funding of £800,000, was launched at the Jerwood Gallery. Hastings Borough Council’s communications staff report.

Hastings Herring Fair takes to the Stade this weekend, when the local fishing fleet will be celebrating 10 years since they were awarded MSC – Marine Stewardship Council – status for their sustainable methods of herring fishing.
