Schoolkids take note: schools help fund climate change!

As thousands of school students from across the UK prepare to take to the streets on Friday (15 March) to demand urgent action on climate change, Divest East Sussex has discovered that over 40 schools and sixth-form colleges in East Sussex are inadvertently funding global warming through their contributions to the East Sussex Pension Fund (ESPF). Lewes signs up for fossil fuel divestment

The divestment campaign in East Sussex has taken a significant step forward, with Lewes Town Council adding its voice to calls for East Sussex Pension Fund to sell its investment in fossil fuels. Nick Terdre reports.

Divestment campaigners will step up the pressure on East Sussex County Council to withdraw pension fund investments from fossil fuels by handing in a petition ahead of the pension committee meeting next Monday. Nick Terdre reports.

Divestment advice for pension committee

Divestment campaigners from Hastings and elsewhere in East Sussex stepped up their campaign to persuade the East Sussex Pension Committee to switch funds out of fossil fuels by sending the latest findings of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) to committee chairman, Richard Stogden. Campaigners from around East Sussex have launched a new brochure and web tool to help members of the East Sussex Pension Fund (ESPF) lobby the county council to reinvest the £172 million it currently has invested in the coal, oil and gas industries. Fossil Free Hastings reports.
