The Lily Bish aka The Ghost of Dunkirk

The Ghost of Dunkirk moves to a new home

On Saturday 17 June, the ‘Cyril and Lilian Bishop’, Hastings’ lifeboat from 1931-1950, our ‘Ghost of Dunkirk’, is moving to her final resting place. HOT’s Chandra Masoliver asks Dee-Day White and Tush Hamilton how they inspired countless local people to become involved in the project.

This is the second part of HOT’s Chandra Masoliver‘s interview with Dee-Day White and John ‘Tush’ Hamilton, timed to coincide with the film showing and concert this Friday 20 January at St Mary in the Castle, raising funds for the restoration of the former Hastings lifeboat, the ‘Cyril and Lilian Bishop’, known as the ‘Lily Bish’. (See link below for Chandra’s first article.)

Saving our legendary lifeboat (I)

Having played a central role in the rescuing of those at peril on the sea, now it is Hasting’s turn to save our legendary lifeboat, the ‘Cyril and Lilian Bishop’. St Mary in the Castle hosts The Ghost of Dunkirk, a film and music event supporting the campaign to restore this former Hastings lifeboat to her original state. The programme features live music from Jiggery Pokery, including a song written for the occasion, along with The Salts, RX Shanty Men, Harmony One and Now and Then. Chandra Masoliver reports.
