Plan to shape Hastings’ future out for comment

The future shape of the town centre and White Rock/Bohemia is in the air following publication by the council of a draft area action plan, which is now out to consultation. To help residents get a grip of what is being proposed, Hastings Urban Design Group will hold two walkabouts of the areas in question. Nick Terdre reports.

Hundreds of local residents have already signed a pledge not to purchase non-Post Office products if the proposed franchise goes ahead.

Community presence to be felt at the Post Office Customer Forum on Thursday 3 August

The Save St Leonards Crown Post Office Campaign is concerned that Post Office Ltd are not taking account of local views on the future of St Leonards Crown Post Office. The Post Office is holding a ‘customer forum’ on Thursday 3 August they have specified that: ‘the decision on the way we operate the branch, so it is run by our new retail partner, is not a matter for public consultation’. Rod Webb and others from the campaign group talk to HOT about the plans for a mass gathering outside the Royal Victoria Hotel where the ‘customer forum’ will be held.

Public consultation on 2016-17 budget

Hastings Borough Council has started consulting on its 2016-17 budget and is asking for responses to its proposals by Friday 12 February. Since 2010, the government grant for the local council has been cut by 54%, according to an HBC press release. You’re invited to comment on how the money we do receive for this area is distributed.
